Scottish Chapter Study Tour

This visit is intended to be both educational and fun, allowing the opportunity to meet other BCO members from the Scottish region.

The programme has been put together to ensure we capture the best of what is happening in London.

Day 1 Attendees will convene at our first building at 10:15am, the EMI HQ in the heart of Kensington, National winner of the BCO 2004 Refurbished Workplace Award a stunning transformation of a tired 1980’s building into a riot of colour, light and music.

The tour moves to the city where we will be guided through Paternoster Square, a recently developed public space giving access to new buildings including the Eric Parry designed London Stock Exchange and MacCormac Jamieson Prichard’s Goldman Sachs International. A building visit is also planned. We then visit the Hine’s developed Salvation Army International HQ, an outstanding building to fit its occupant’s new forward-looking public face. A short walk across the Millenium bridge then follows for a light lunch at the Tate Modern.

After lunch, we visit the Swiss Re HQ at St Mary Axe, the Stirling Prize Winner which has reshaped the city skyline. We finish the day at British Land’s Plantation Place, another building of distinctive silhouette which has received much applause.

A group dinner has been arranged at Brown’s Restaurant & Bar, Butler’s Wharf for those who would like to socialise in the evening. Please indicate on the form overleaf.

Day 2 We start the morning exploring More London on the South Bank which will include a visit to the Foster-designed Ernst & Young HQ, winner of the BCO 2004 Commercial Workplace Award.

We then go direct to Canary Wharf for an insight into current development activity. A presentation at the marketing suite has been arranged followed by a building visit. The tour will finish at Canary Wharf at around 1:30pm.
