Northern Award Winner Tour – BBC North, MediaCity

Relocating any business is a challenge and for the BBC the move to the North is one of the most ambitious people moves in its history.

With 2,300 posts and 37 departments moving to a brand new workplace across three buildings, the key challenge, and ultimately its greatest success, was engagement with the occupier and developing a successful workplace strategy.

Looking to the future at all times, the project team has designed a scheme that is flexible both in capacity and configuration; sitting independently within the building’s shell it can be easily dismantled and reconstructed as required.

The BCO Northern Judges commented:

"The BBC’s occupation of MediaCityUK has had a phenomenal cultural and economic impact on the local area and this accessible fit out is integral to that. The design has created places that provoke ‘smiles’ from staff and visitors."
