In September 2011, listed property company SEGRO, secured planning for a 1.5m ft² mixed use scheme utilising, primarily, land behind the popular Bath Road which is already home to major corporates such as Telefonica, Fiat, Polycom, LG and RIM. The development will be delivered, over the 20 year consent, in 4 phases with the main focus being around 2 landscaped plazas delivering 900,000 ft² in 11 new office buildings supported by hotels, restaurants, conference facilities and convenience shopping.

The scheme incorporates a range of major infrastructure improvements including the removal of all overhead pylons, a new railway bridge, road junction enhancements, an improved cycle network and new pedestrian routes and crossings. Green areas and public spaces across the estate as a whole will be significantly increased.

The re-development plans will deliver 4,000 new jobs and to help local people access these employment opportunities SEGRO will deliver Slough Aspire – a dedicated Skills Training Centre – through a genuine public-private partnership. SEGRO will provide assistance in kind worth £1m to support the project with public and private sector partners delivering bespoke skills, training and careers advice services.
