Sir George Mathewson, Group Chairman and Sir Fred Goodwin, Group Chief Executive, over 3250 staff, and 300 guests including politicians, Government representatives, customers and charity partners, welcomed Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh to RBS Gogarburn, headquarters of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, to officially open the campus on September 14th 2005.
Commenting on the opening, Sir George Mathewson, Chairman said: "It is perhaps inevitable on an occasion like this that much of the focus is on this building. However, I would not want that to obscure the fact that it is the people who work here and indeed our staff across the Group, who have helped RBS achieve its success.”

Outline description of RBS Gogarburn

· World class working environment providing office accommodation for 3250 staff
· 6 business houses arranged around a central 280 metre internal street with various retail outlets
· At the heart of the Gogarburn campus is the Street which provides a range of high street outlets including a Tesco Metro, Starbucks coffee shop, chemist, Baxters, dry cleaner, hairdresser and florist and a 500-seat staff restaurant.
· Health and Leisure facilities including a 20 metre pool, gym, medical and fitness suites, outdoor tennis and 5-aside courts.
· Creche providing high quality early care and education for 70 children aged from three months to primary school age.
· The Training & Conference Centre is set within woodland at the north-west side of the site. The building contains a 300-seat tiered auditorium, flexible resource and training rooms, business centre and a TV studio
