Michael Hussey
Managing Director, Almacantar

Mike is 44 years old and has spent the majority of his career working in Central London property market. He is currently raising funds for a new property company, Almacantar.

Until June 2009, Mike spent seven years at Land Securities plc, the largest property company in the UK. For five of those years Mike was the Executive Board Director responsible for the London Portfolio. Mike is recognised as one of the key experts in the London market and has secured a strong reputation through some landmark transactions during his career. He consolidated that position following an astutely timed development programme in London, over the last cycle, and execution of some significant sales at the top of the market.

He is currently the President of the British Council for Offices and has held a number of key positions in the market including President of the City Property Association, Director of the New West End Company and Chairman of the British Property Federation Regeneration and Development Committee. He was a Trustee of LandAid – the property industry charity and is also a Trustee of the Photographers’ Gallery.

Prior to Land Securities, Mike was the Head of Leasing and Marketing at Canary Wharf Group where they executed 9.3 million square feet of transactions between 1997 and 2001. Canary Wharf was floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1999. Mike started his career at Edward Erdman and Knight Frank before Canary Wharf Group.
