The client, Immediate Media Co, wanted to relocate 500 of their Bristol staff from a disjointed office space into a single premises that celebrates their collaborative working ethos and creative employees.

With such a large workforce intending to use the building, an extra storey was needed to accommodate the growing numbers. A zinc clad mansard roof was designed to blend alongside the adjacent St Stephen’s House. Sensitivity to the vistas across the city centre to the church behind was a key influence on the design.
A new Art Deco style perforated metal screen forms a distinctive marker for the building entrance.

Internally the building has been transformed, with a new internal atrium and accommodation stair, combined with open plan floor plates, bringing clarity to the building form and layout.
