A new double-height entrance space was created by removing part of first floor slab over the entrance. This, together with the removal of the exist public house allowed for the creation of a unified reception space. The refurbishment of the external light well and the removal of a corrugated aluminium roof over the health club’s stained-glass dome has also transformed the light flowing into the swimming pool – restoring the architect’s original vision.

The finishes have been chosen to complement the Art Deco architecture but at the same time creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere to significantly add value to the building, both in user experience and net usable space. New trees and benches have been incorporated into the public realm works to Little Quay Street.
