One year on: from vision to reality at 1 Lancaster Circus, Birmingham FULLY BOOKED
Working for the Future is transforming Birmingham City Council’s
1.2 million sq ft administrative office portfolio to improve customer
service delivery, provide better workplaces and act as a catalyst
for new ways of working.
1 Lancaster Circus was the first major refurbishment project to
get underway and the top two floors are now fully refurbished
and occupied. The introduction of raised floors, removal of cellular
offices, installation of new windows and central meeting rooms
makes the space barely recognisable.
It is now a new light bright environment that utilises natural daylight
and lighting technologies. Major works have also been undertaken
to provide a new heating, cooling and ventilation system. The result
is a first class, environmentally friendly working environment for
employees.
Phase two has already begun and refurbishments are ongoing –
the ground, 1st and 2nd floors are due for completion June 2010.
