The Northern Chapter will be heading to Leeds for their 2012 regional awards dinner. The prestigious Queens Hotel in the heart of the city will provide the perfect location. Guests will enjoy pre-dinner drinks before being seated in the Ballroom for a 3-course dinner, followed by the awards presentation hosted by Garry Richardson.

Speaker – Paul Fletcher MBE

Following a sixteen-year career as a professional footballer, Paul has now become one of Europe’s leading stadium experts. Starting out as CE at Huddersfield Town, he masterminded the award winning Alfred McAlpine Stadium, voted the RIBA ‘Building of the Year in 1995.

In 1996 he returned to his old Club Bolton Wanderers as CE at the new £40 million Reebok Stadium the BCI Building of the Year in 1998. After two years he was invited by the FA to become Commercial Director of the new £500 million Wembley National Stadium – after 18 months, as costs escalated, he controversially walked away from the project commenting that he ‘needed to spend more time with his wife and family in the Lancashire sunshine’.

Within weeks he took up the position as CE at the £64 million Ricoh Arena Coventry, which is destined to become one of the country’s largest sports and leisure venues. On 1st January 2006 he was invited to join the Board of Coventry City Football Club as MD leaving in January 2008 to take up a position as CE of Burnley Football Club. Paul was also awarded an MBE for services to Football in the 2007 New Years Honours list.
