In recognition of the importance of this issue the BCO has commissioned a number of studies recently including: ‘Defining and Measuring Productivity in Offices’ which provides a definition of a productive workplace, how productivity can be measured and the steps that can be taken to make the most of available opportunities to improve performance; ‘Wellness Matters’, which sets out a proactive approach to health and wellbeing in the built environment and articulates the business case for investment, while giving practical guidance; ‘Improving Productivity in the Workplace’ (WLP+ ), which examines the link between improving indoor environmental qualities and productivity, and the ‘BRE Biophilia Project’, which the BCO supports as a dissemination partner

While the property industry’s understanding of the implications of office environment on health, wellbeing and productivity is deepening, this is by no means universal.

We would like to invite you to a workshop to debate and discuss the business case for a productive workplace, identify the current barriers to uptake and consider the way forward for the industry in overcoming some of the challenges.
