Both regional and national judging panels were vociferous in their praise of this achievement in turning an unpromising relic of the industrial past into vibrant and modern offices fit for the 21st century.

The project is located within one of the old weaving sheds, which forms part of a previously derelict site of 200,000m² of factories in Darlington. It once provide much of the area’s employment, so successful regeneration of this first stage is particularly important. Darlington is not automatically thought of as an office location  but through a positive attitude to design and tenant care, the scheme has carved out a strong position.
