Breakfast with Sir Albert Bore and Ian Stringer

Hear what Councillor Sir Albert Bore’s vision is for sustainable growth in Birmingham and the West Midlands region. Ian Stringer will then discuss whether, as the region’s capital, Birmingham’s office market is fit for purpose for the next phase of the city’s growth aspirations.

Councillor Sir Albert Bore
Elected as a member of Birmingham City Council in 1980, Albert Bore has taken a major role in the regeneration of the city. From 1984 to 1993 he chaired the City’s Economic Development Committee. Since the mid 1980’s he has held company directorships of both Aston Science Park and the National Exhibition Centre. He is also a director of Marketing Birmingham.

He is currently Leader of Birmingham City Council and was previously from 1999-2004. Since 1994 Sir Albert has been one of the Government appointed members of the European Union’s Committee of the Regions, and was President from 2002-2004.

In December 2006, he was appointed Chairman of the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. Profession and other information: PhD in Physics; former University Lecturer.

Ian Stringer

Ian Stringer
Ian has been at GVA in Birmingham for nearly 30 years with much of his time spent during that period focussed on the Central Birmingham Office Market. Involved in many aspects of the evolution and redevelopment of the commercial heart of the City over that period, specific highlights include the  major Royal Bank of Scotland City Space Strategy culminating in a 370,000 sq ft of office requirement in 2002 (the largest commercial requirement in the cities history), and experience of the whole development life cycle of Brindleyplace from site sale through to the scheme’s completion and beyond.
 
He is a past Head of GVA’s National Office Team, current Regional Senior Director at GVA in the Midlands which employs 360 people in it’s Brindleyplace office, and Head of the firm’s National Markets Division encompassing all agency services outside of Central London. A GVA Board member for over 10 years,  Ian Chaired the firm’s Board from 2005 until incorporation in late 2007.
