BCO Urban Affairs Group: Global Cities – Lessons and Improvements Post COVID-19

Many urban environments around the world implemented rapid changes to react to the initial risks, to facilitate measures such as hygiene and social distancing. Alongside the global sense of fear and loss there were glimmers of optimism too, with people asking: what positive lessons can we learn from this?

This event explores how various cities and nations globally have lived through and been impacted by COVID-19, and specifically how the urban realm has adapted and evolved for the better – from small-scale changes like more outdoor restaurant seating, to large infrastructure plans such as improved cycle networks.

Our panel of experts includes:
• Yosuke Hayano, Principal Partner at MAD Architects. Originally from Japan and based in MAD’s office in Beijing, Yosuke oversees MAD’s design language across all scales, from the human to the architectural and urban.
• Andrea Cassi, Project Manager and Senior Architect at Carlo Ratti Associati. Based in CRA’s office in Turin, Andrea has collaborated with the Senseable City Lab at Massachusetts Institute of Technology to look at the role of digital technologies in the contemporary city.

The event will be hosted by the chair of the Urban Affairs Group – Cristiano Testi, Principal Director at TP Bennett and by Keith Priest, Founding Partner of Fletcher Priest Architects.
