BCO Technical Tour – BDO Stoy Hayward, London

The combination of dark stone flooring and warm timber evoke quality and gravitas befitting the organisation, whilst reflective glass and light wall finishes create a fresh, inviting and contemporary space.

Staff facilities have been intentionally designed to be side-by-side with client meeting facilities on the first floor to reinforce the importance of their staff as key to the company’s success.

Sustainable measures have been utilised in the project and include stone quarried from the UK, timber approved by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), presence detection lighting systems, multi-function chilled ceiling beams and recycling facilities.

The move to 55 Baker Street enabled a huge change in culture of the firm. Their previous workplace was cellular and the new headquarters is 100% open plan. The building needed an extensive refurbishment by architects MAKE to tailor it to modern office standards. The floorplates are large and, being 100% open, the design challenge was to break the space down to make flexible ‘bite size’ spaces, optimised for team working, whilst not restricting the long-term business planning.
