60 Threadneedle Street is tailored to deliver an optimum working environment of Grade A offices from 20,000 sq ft to 200,000 sq ft. Its design is in keeping with its historic surroundings while making a bold, modern statement in the City of London.

The building consists of ground floor reception and retail units with eight office floors above. These are arranged around two glazed atria, giving excellent views across and out of the floors. The first floor’s double skin façade has an outer layer containing strips of dichroic glass. The projecting cladding and façade is finished in a dark lustrous coating similar in quality to the burnished bronze statues that inhabit the City of London, and creating changing shades from a dark blue black to a lilac black appearance depending on the varying light conditions.

The creation of a route between the new building and the neighbouring reclad tower provides a new public space in the City. The decision to respect the historic urban grain by re-establishing an urban block allowed the office building to unlock new spaces and create a street of new shop frontages that animate the areas around the development.

A range of measures combine to minimise 60 Threadneedle Street’s impact on the environment, and consequently to achieve an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating.

The project leads a generation of high-quality commercial buildings that provide maximum amounts of flexible modern office space.
