BCO Talk & Tour: Threesixty Architecture Studio and The Garment Factory, Glasgow

– Threesixty Architecture Studio –

Threesixty Architecture required to relocate having outgrown their previous office since their inception in 2008. Before identifying a new home, 360 took the early opportunity with their staff to ‘visualise’ what a new studio should feel like. This engagement helped inform the creation of tangible physical space and allow the business to grow their Cultural methods of working.

From this process 360 chose the top floor of The Garment Factory in Glasgow City Centre and inherited a unique industrial space of c. 800 sq. m. with cast iron columns on grid, supporting an attractive serrated north light roof profile, which also satisfied the desire for good natural daylight and ventilation.

The finished workspace/studio provides an excellent working environment of quality with finite attention to detail, which has kept 360 true to their Vision and Values.

– The Garment Factory –

Castleforge Partners and their team have completely transformed the Grade B Listed, former J&W Campbell clothing factory in the heart of Glasgow’s Merchant City.

The approach, led by Morgan McDonnell Architecture, was to pursue a ‘de-furbished’ aesthetic, creating a bold workplace environment to the Glasgow market. The welcoming reception space effectively incorporates several elements that reflect the building’s history, most notably the Bute fabric feature wall, reminiscent of the fabric rolls found in the original factory. The space incorporates a café to the rear of the reception connecting to the green space of the neighbouring cemetery.

Other amenities in the building include ample showers and changing areas, generous lockers and a large cycle store in the lower ground floor, along with a multi-function games room & dining space for use by Occupiers.
