The BCO judges were impressed that through a clever refurbishment, Fletcher Priest and Land Securities transformed an outdated 1960s building in Paddington into a sleek new tower with a roof garden. By reorganising the core and staircase and opening up the corners, the judges noted the increase in floor area and the stunning views across London from the offices. Low-energy chilled beams increase the ceiling heights, while a whole façade of louvres with embedded pv cells generates energy.
