This is a major refurbishment and extension of 160 Aldersgate, originally a tired late 1980s office building. The completed project, designed by Fletcher Priest Architects, has transformed the original building internally and externally, providing flexible space that meets the requirements of contemporary office occupiers such as DLA Piper, the law practice who pre-let the majority of the building and now occupy the whole site.

The judges highlighted the new façade and reconfigured ground floor which make a positive contribution to the urban fabric of Aldersgate frontage, while the enlarged atrium provides a striking central feature. External amenity is provided at the upper floors via new roof terraces, in response to the right to light envelope and townscape requirements.
