BCO Research Launch: Measuring Social Value of Offices

Commissioned by the Environmental Social Governance Group, this report considers the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012. It requires all public sector bodies to consider social value within their commissioning and procurement processes and provides a unique opportunity for the public sector to achieve this goal by promoting closer ‘social partnerships’ that unlock added social value with their supply chain and other businesses working in the local area.

A detailed social value assessment of a new development by Legal & General Real Assets at 245 Hammersmith Road, London provides us with an important case study within the report. The aim was to better understand the full social impact of the development and to establish a measurement methodology that may be used more broadly in decisions about planning, design and occupation; the results of which will be explored during the evening.

Guy Battle, CEO of the Social Value Portal led the research on this project and will be sharing the key research findings, alongside Debbie Hobbs, Sustainability Manager from Legal & General Real Assets and Nicholle Kingsley, Partner of Pinsent Masons LLP.

Join us for what will be an informative evening and to enjoy drinks and networking with your fellow BCO members and industry peers after the presentations.
