BCO Northern Awards Dinner 2008

This evening will celebrate all of the entires into the BCO Awards 2008. However, for the first time the Northern Chapter will be announcing the Regional Winners in the categories of:

  • Fit-Out of Workplace
  • Refurbished/Recycled Workplace
  • Projects up to 2,000m2

Guest speaker – Steven Norris

Steve was a Conservative MP for fourteen years, until he retired in 1997. He was Parliamentary Private Secretary at the Department of the Environment, the Department of Trade and Industry and the Home Office and Minister for Transport in London from 1992-96. He is a former Vice-Chairman of the Conservative Party and contested the Mayoralty of London in 2000 and 2004 running Ken Livingstone close on both occasions. He recently joined David Cameron’s Quality of Life Commission as Convenor of the Transport Working Group.

Steve is a well-known businessman who was Director General of the Road Haulage Association from 1997-99 and has wide experience of both quoted and unquoted companies including Jarvis plc, the infrastructure services company where he is Executive Chairman, ITIS Holdings plc, the AIM-listed traffic information provider where he is Senior Independent Director and Agilo Ltd, a London hedge fund. Steve advises a number of public and private sector organisations including the Financial Services Authority, the former Strategic Rail Authority and Canary Wharf Group on public policy and regulation. He is a frequent writer and broadcaster on a range of political and public policy issues. He is Chair of the London Action Trust, Eastside Young Leaders Academy and the British Urological Foundation and a Vice President of the National Society for Clean Air and Environmental Protection.
