The restoration of this iconic Grade II listed building shows that a sensitive and well-loved historic site can become a high performing and attractive, modern workplace.

This project is the result of many years of intense work with HMRC and their consultant/contractor teams to create a new regional government hub for over 4,000 employees.

The scheme was split into Cat A and Cat B works. The Cat A design team restored the best of the original building, making necessary repairs to maintain the building’s lifespan and create the shell for a Cat B fit out. The Cat B team worked closely with HMRC to create a modern open office environment. Both elements ran simultaneously, with the Cat A & Cat B teams collaborating throughout the process to ensure an integrated design.
