Nextgen Seminar- Reinventing Industry (Newcastle Upon Tyne)

A derelict toffee factory, with help from the public sector has become a regeneration catalyst for the Ouseburn area in Newcastle Upon Tyne. It’s skilful refurbishment has provided work space for the creative industry. Going against market trends, it was almost fully let when it opened in December 2011.

The Toffee Factory offers 24 serviced offices ranging from 4-25 people, including flexible workspace for new or recently established companies. The building also has an impressive sustainability agenda, winning the RIBA North East Sustainable Building of the Year along with numerous other prestigious awards.

Tours of the building will be held by Max Fordham’s who were service engineer’s on the project and xsite architecture who were the project architects. Members of both teams will be on hand to discuss the reasoning behind the design concept and to answer any questions along the way.
