South West Tour – One Glass Wharf, Bristol
The firm’s move to One Glass Wharf is the culmination of a five year programme which anticipated the end of its leases of the premises it occupied since 1982. Burges Salmon worked closely with the architects and interior designers to create a building specifically designed to meet the needs of clients and over 600 staff, representing a step-change in terms of facilities.
One Glass Wharf provides the staff of Burges Salmon with a contemporary, comfortable workspace that is light, bright and airy, while the Glassworks café has quickly become the social heart of the firm.
BREEAM “Excellent” rated, environmental design technologies adopted at One Glass Wharf include the use of harbour water to reject heat from the building to deliver an anticipated energy saving of 30% – 40% per year. A rainwater recovery system collects rainwater and stores it in roof-top tanks before using it to flush WCs. Every room is equipped with remote energy saving sensors, so that heating/cooling and lighting is activated when rooms are occupied.
