In 2006 the University of Westminster, in collaboration with University College London and Imperial College London, undertook a study of the likely impacts of teleworking (and to a lesser extent, of teleconferencing). This examined policy in nineteen organisations in the London area, and also carried out extensive analysis of the National Travel Survey (NTS), which collects data on the extent of working at home, as well as travel as such.

The British Council for Offices (BCO) was most helpful in making contact with a number of the organisations concerned, and BCO members were among those interviewed.
