Description

This means that our London Awards will now be hosted on Tuesday, 20 October @5pm by Director of Creative Diversity at the BBC, June Sarpong, who will be announcing all category winners. Joining June on our virtual stage will be our CEO, Richard Kauntze and Chair of the London Judging Panel, Phil Breeden.

Whilst we are precluded from being together at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel, we have worked hard to provide a fabulous experience with all the excitement you would expect at this prestigious and popular event. Virtual events are innovative spaces and we invite you to step into a world of new possibilities: network with your guests ‘face to face’, welcome them for drinks at your virtual table, watch the show “live” on a virtual stage and make contact with others on the guest list. If this sounds fantastic but hard to imagine, don’t worry, we will provide you with an easy to follow “How to Guide”, so all you need to do on the day is to put the Champagne in the fridge and enjoy the event.

We very much hope that you will join us at the virtual awards show to celebrate the fantastic achievements of the talented teams that have entered their projects this year.

Presenter

June Sarpong OBE

June has enjoyed a 20year career, in which she has become one of the most recognisable faces of British television. June began her career at Kiss 100 and later became a presenter for MTV UK & Ireland. It was when she started on Channel 4’s T4 that she became a household name.

June hosted 2005’s Make Poverty History event and presented at the UK leg of Live Earth in 2007. In 2008 she hosted Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday celebrations in front of 30,000 people in London’s Hyde Park. June has also interviewed and introduced some of the world’s biggest names including HRH Prince of Wales, Bill Clinton, Al Gore and George Clooney.

She has worked extensively with HRH Prince Charles as an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust, whilst campaigning for The One and Produce (RED). June was awarded an MBE in 2007 for her services to broadcasting and charity, making her one of the youngest people ever to receive an MBE.

June is the cofounder of the WIE Network (Women: Inspiration & Enterprise). This acclaimed conference has featured leading speakers including Sarah Brown,

Melinda Gates, Arianna Huffington, Donna Karan, Queen Rania, Nancy Pelosi and Iman.

After living in America for eight years, June moved back to the UK in 2015, and is now a regular panelist on Sky News’ weekly current affairs discussion show, The

Pledge. June is also an author of two award winning books; ‘Diversify: Six Degrees of Integration’ and The Power of Women. Diversify was launched across the USA and Canada earlier this year, where June toured over summer 2019.

June is currently the Director of Creative Diversity at the BBC, having been appointed in the role in 2019. Acting as the broadcasting giants’ first ever Diversity Director, June will work to increase representation throughout the company and ensure that the BBC’s content reflects the public they serve.
