BCO ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN TORONTO

Cancelled

A Statement from the BCO

It is with much regret that the BCO has had to take the difficult decision to cancel the Annual Conference planned to take place in Toronto next May. None of us, of course, saw the coronavirus pandemic coming, and its scale and impact has been more far reaching than any of us could have imagined.  When we took the decision to postpone what was originally Toronto 2020 to May next year, we did so with considerable confidence that life would be back to normal. Sadly, that looks to be a distant prospect, and trying to organise any physical conference, let alone one several thousand miles from the UK, in the coming weeks and months is unrealistic. The BCO is hugely grateful to Robin Brodie Cooper, our Senior Vice President, who would have chaired the conference, the Conference Committee, our sponsors and the many members who had booked to attend.

While the Toronto-based event has been cancelled, we very much hope to be able to bring at least some of the plenary sessions to the membership via Zoom (or similar) in the coming months. We will also be working to explore the possibility of a UK-based virtual (or partly virtual, should physical events of that type be permissible) in the second half of 2021.
